For many couples, sharing a bath is one of the most romantic and intimate activities that they will ever take part in. My own husband and I take a great deal of pleasure in the occasional bath in our garden tub. It is a rare treat, with children still at home and busy schedules, so it is all the more special when we do have the opportunity to sink into the warmth, let everything else go, and feel the stresses of life washed away as our hearts and spirits are renewed.
To prepare the most romantic bath for two, it is important that you focus on stimulating every sense in your bodies. The five senses are smell, taste, touch, sight, and sound. Break that down and you can let your creativity shine as you find the best ways for the two of you to experience the fullness of your senses together. Here is an example of the way that my husband and I like to experience this, but you can add to, subtract from, or alter this plan to suit you and your sweetheart best.
Our sense of smell is actually one of the most powerful. It creates amazing memories and this is going to be one of them. I prefer to use scented candles throughout the bathroom, providing both smell and lighting. Scents that are peaceful and relaxing are wonderful in this case, such as lavender, vanilla, and musky rose. You can use them together or choose just one or two.
We like to have a snack or two along for our "tub date". Foods that we select are things that we can feed to one another, such as grapes or strawberries. These are good because they can be eaten with wet hands and there will be no melting. A couple of glasses of champagne or your favorite drink are also sweet additions to your time together.
The water should feel soft to the skin, so I sprinkle in some nice bath beads or bath powder that makes it feel silky and sensual against our skin. The temperature should be warm, but not so hot that the room is one big mass of steam and you are sweating profusely. It is also nice to have some bath essentials, such as loofahs or nice body scrub tools to wash one another.
The bathroom should be freshly cleaned so that it sparkles. Don't forget things like mirrors, lighting fixtures, and flooring. The candles, of course, provide beauty and visual appeal, as well.
Soft music playing will add to your relaxation and romance. Choose music that is suited to your tastes and possibly has some meaning to you. I play the CD that we listened to on our honeymoon, which is a collection of love songs.
A romantic bath for two is not difficult to prepare. Just keep the five senses in mind and appeal to each of them in some way. The bath should be a fully inclusive experience and the two of you will be well on your way to being relaxed, refreshed, and renewed. It is a memory maker of the most loving sort. Enjoy your bath and your loved one.
